Take a look into my eyes and see reflected
A hundred grisly deaths or more.
One green, one blue, the mark of one who's Graced—
Does your heart tremble to the core?
A Graceling is a terror in this kingdom,
One without pity, mercy, love,
Regarded as a demon sent to haunt you,
A feral, untamed wildcat.

Take a look at my dagger and see reflected
A thousand innocent lives
Taken for the sport of a ruthless king
Who's subjects die, and yet he thrives
In his sadistic evil he will drown,
But not as long as he has me,
The girl who's like a demon sent to haunt you,
A cold, obsessive wildcat.

Take a look at this land and see reflected
The faces of the victims I have made.
I am a prisoner, they do not know
How I long for another fate.
I see it in your eyes: a chance for freedom,
A crack in my stone prison wall.
Tame me, who's not a demon sent to haunt you,
A feral, untamed wildcat.
A poem based on the book Graceling.

Told from the perspective of the heroine Katsa. This is basically her thoughts on her life as the king's assassin and torturer. At the end she talks about how Po, her true love, shows her the light at the end of the tunnel.

The title comes from Po's nickname for Katsa--wildcat.

I've really gotten into Graceling and I totally love this, it reflects on Katsa's story so well... I really love it, beautiful poem

Thanks. I think Graceling is a really good book--a lot better than a lot of the stuff in the young adult section today. I haven't read "Fire" yet...have you?

No problem and I totally agree. It's really great. I read Fire and it was almost better in my opinion. You can relate more to the main character and there's a lot more events and conflicts and romance haha. You should read it!
